Artist StatementAbena Addo (AKA Artfully Yours) is the founder of this site, and has been working on art projects, and been creating art for long time. 'I feel like art is a part of me, and very much connected to who I am as a person. If I don't do it, or am not involved in facilitating the doing of it for a long while it would make me feel unhappy. Abena Addo HOMEPAGEtradition, in that in many cases in Africa, Art had a more communal and functional purpose. Having said that, I do not feel totally part of the 'Arts for Arts sake' kind of mindset, and do feel that sense of telling a story or a kind of conversation with my Ancestral Heritage, and looking also, to the future. But at the same time, I believe much of what or who we identify with is a largely social construct, and do not want to be forced into making images because that's what is expected of me, so there should still be that part whereby sometimes it is just 'Art for art's sake. I wanted to set up this space because, I want to encourage the making, doing, buying and survival of art , and not restrict it to one style of work." Pics Kindly taken by Guiliana Capasso.
