Imogen Perkin Artist statement
I make paintings that depict landscapes of a man made world. These images bring together the abstractions of the urban with the figurative romance of people existing in the city. Amongst the domineering structures of architecture and machinery human beings negotiate their everyday lives. I keep returning to certain themes - stations, fountains, building sites, allotments. For me these are places of transition, alluding to the life long journey and the destination that is always just out of sight .
I live in Hertfordshire and have shown my work in many interesting shows in the capital. At the moment I am taking part in the Art of Caring exhibition at the Conference Centre Gallery at St Pancras Hospital. Last year I showed my large painting "Demolition" at "Construction, Destruction, Reconstruction" at a long running show at Tower Bridge Engine Rooms.
Several years ago I was selected for the "London Lives" exhibition at the Bankside Gallery, which was sponsored by the Guardian newspaper. I have an Hons degree in Fine Art and am a member of the United Artists.
