Observe and Draw.
Look at the bright colours that Matisse has used in his portraits above. He came from a group of Artists called The Fauvists. Why don't you find out about them. With this art work, you can do a few different things; you can a) Look in the mirror, and draw from yourself, using the kinds of colours that Matisse has used in the portraits. b) Take a photograph of yourself and photocopy it, in black and white, and use one of the images to try out different funky colours on your photo. c) You can draw from your siblings and relatives, but make sure they sit still! Ha ha! And d) You can cut up some coloured paper from magazines or newspaper ads, and use craft glue to stick the coloured paper to a basic outline that you have drawn already

When we look at Art, there are different parts to it. In Art we call it 'elements'. Also called 'Formal elements. Your formal elements are made up of things like; drawing, painting. And people's art is often judged on that. Did they draw 'well' does it 'look like the person'. It can be really great when an artist can make something as life..but sometimes it can be a bit boring.....what do YOU think? Alongside that you also have expression. That is what was the artist thinking and feeling when they created that piece of work...What were they trying to say? Who are they addressing.. Look at the piece above....what do you think the artist is trying to convey....? You can send a response by clicking below...I will let you know, if you are right, as I made the peice.. Thanks, Artfully yours. Why not check out these artists? Apply the question's above to them... Marc Chagall and Frida Kahlo, Jean-Michel Basquiat...Have fun! October 2013 update;
coming soon.....Identify the Artists opposite.
